The dispute between McInerney and King ended in tragedy a year ago today when McInerney allegedly armed himself with a .22-caliber gun and shot King in the back of the head twice in an Oxnard classroom as the school day was beginning. Many parents, teachers, students, and gay-rights activists feel the school ignored McInerney's bullying of King.
