Haiti disaster highlights challenges International Adoption

Thousands of Americans had to put their dream of Haitian adoption on hold while the Caribbean nation struggles to restore basic services and reunite families separated by the disaster.

With Haiti temporarily closed to new adoptions, some have turned elsewhere, to nations such as Ethiopia, China and Russia.

First US military aid reaches quakestricken Haiti

With the first of its flights touching down in earthquake-devastated Haiti late Wednesday afternoon, the U.S. began deploying military planes, ships and ground troops to the Caribbean nation.
